My artwork is always upbeat and fun, whether I’m painting a colorful pastry display, or dancers in a passionate embrace. I am most inspired by exciting displays of food, beauty in nature, and interesting people, which often engage all of my senses and sensibilities. My paintings are improvisations on realistic images fused onto fanciful and imaginative themes, often with a strong emotional dimension. I often combine paint with metal leaf (copper, aluminum, and faux gold) as well as other collage elements. I enjoy the process of making inventive, innovative art. I use additive and reductive processes in creating my work, removing or embellishing images, and often carving back into them, to find the real, hidden story underneath each painting. My life work has always been about food as both an artist and as a Food Professional. I am very excited about my latest artwork of Pop-art food-centric paintings. They combine my skills of both paintin g and pastry decoration! I am creating an under painting on birch board, then covering the painting with hard, shiny resin, and then topping it off with pastry bag applied “garnishes” of more paint.

I have a Master’s Degree in Nutrition from the University of Cincinnati and earned a certificate of Fine Arts from The Glassell School of Art in 2012. I have 3 grown children and live in Bellaire, Texas with my husband.
