Locations hold memories; places have meaning. I am intrigued by the relationship of nature with the city landscape that surrounds us; and our relationship within it and with each other. As an artist, my intention is to communicate those observations and emotions to transport the viewer to a different world, of dreamlike uncertainty and at the unclear transition time between day and night. These strange worlds of painted or drawn horizontal lines are devoid of the usual visual cues, suggesting movement within areas of spatial ambiguity. Images of nature, such as butterfly and bird forms sometimes find their way into my urban landscapes and symbolize the human spirit.
