Marlo Saucedo first explored art in four summers of juried scholarship classes at MFAH’s Glassell Junior School. She holds an M.B.A. from U.T. Austin, and has written for the Houston Press, Cover Magazine (NYC), CultureMap Houston, and The Houston Business Journal. Writing ties into labor-intensive drawings, paintings and mixed media pieces of text-to-line with intimate detail. Her work explores the relationship between inwardness and externality.
Marlo was awarded a Houston Arts Alliance grant in 2005. Mounted II, an interview-based piece, is installed at the facility for Houston Police Department's Mounted Patrol Detail. Commissions have included a piece for St. Vincent de Paul Catholic School of a cross containing names of every student and faculty member at the school, WITSHouston's Gala invitation with students' poetry, and a detailed piece on Astros baseball (both stadiums).
